About

I’m a dad and I’m easily distracted.

But you probably guessed that by the url of this website.

This blog started as a way to document the four months I spent as a stay-at-home dad in the summer of 2010. It was my manternity leave and it was worth every Mr. Mom joke.

The reason for my manternity leave was born in the summer of 2009. She was due in the fall.

Distracted Mommy is well, she’s not distracted. She’s focused and a lawyer. I often lose arguments to her. She’s a good mommy.

The final member of our household is a shedding snoring pug. He was the first baby. He spends his days sleeping. Our daughter absolutely adores him.

I update my blog regularly, sporadically, or whenever I get the chance. If you visit the blog and it hasn’t been updated in a week or maybe longer, please refer to the blog’s title.

Blog posts are separated into the following four categories:

Daddy Disasters – On most days parenting goes well or at least doesn’t go wrong. Some days it all goes very very wrong. You know, Murphy’s Law? Anything that can go wrong, will. Murphy must have been a parent and experienced a few days where the stars are aligned against you and everything goes wrong. Those are what I call Daddy Disasters.

ReflectionsNewborns Babies Toddlers grow very quickly. So it’s nice to take some time and reflect. These posts are in-depth (as in-depth as a blog can get) looks at a single topic.

Reviews – It seems that parenting is more about what you buy your child versus how you raise your child. Thankfully, my daughter has lots of possessions. This is my million part series where I try to review every single toy/book/item that my daughter has.

Excursions – Being cooped up in the house all day with a toddler can lead to parental cabin fever. You need outings, something to break up the day. Sometimes we go to the store or music class or the park. These posts chronicle our adventures in the real world.

I’m also the resident daddy blogger over at Sweetspot.ca, Canada’s Sweetest Lifestyle Guide. Look for my weekly column, The Fatherlode, every Thursday.

And I’m on the Twitter.
